Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
The Environment in Lapland is special, that is why youre coming here to see it, but it is experiencing difficulty with global warming. This is why we are taking it very seriously, as we have a responsibility to our surrounding nature to take care of it and to share our knowledge with you.take nothing but photos and leave nothing but footprints!
On our trips we teach you about the local wildlife, shrubs and how they all survive in the hard Arctic conditions. We will explain how climate change is affecting how the Reindeer herders keep the Reindeer, and the effects of ice building under the snow. You will get to see the effects of a warmer global climate here in lapland on your trip.
You can also take note that we hold 2 sustainability badges for our efforts in looking after the environment you can read more here about Sustainable travel finland on the visit Finland webpage. We are also recognised with the Biosphere certificate. Holding these certificates is something we are proud of, but, we have been running our good practices and small educational groups since we started. Now we are very happy to be recognised for the work we have put into our healthy practices.
People
We choose local suppliers who avoid Mass tourism. This is helping us to improve the local circular economy and enhance your experience. We also ensure that our trips aren't just a trip that allows you to take a quick picture, instead, we strive to teach you about what you see, how we affect it and try to give gentle hints along the way of how you can help to preserve it.
When in Rovaniemi we suggest you look for a special badge called 'Likiliikke', This badge is only awarded to local companies like ours and you'll see it on the front of the companies door to let you know that this is the place to take a coffee, or lunch or to book a trip.
We also make yearly contributions to help communities in need. And ask that you consider a small contribution towards your CO2 levels omitted through travel.
We are constantly looking for ways to improve our communities input to sustainable travel, each month we try something new, whether it be a litter pick or an email to VR asking them to lower their prices to enhance travel by train rather than air.
