Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

We believe in managing the volume of tourism to provide individually unique nature experiences that allow interaction while safeguarding the environmental and cultural heritage within Montenegro for the benefit of current and future generations. This tour makes the same impact in Albania as well, where promotion of cultural heritage through locals is mostly emphasized.

This tour was designed for small groups (up to 8 people), that is due to our efforts to minimize direct impact on this sensitive area. All our guides are local to the region and are personally selected for their specific knowledge of the area. Our staff monitor this area regularly to maintain paths, trail markers and remove refuse.

Skadar Lake is a National Park so your visit and Park fees will help sustain the facilities and provide ongoing protection for this area. Also visit to Butrint archelogical park improves the living conditions for people in the area who are very dependant on the tourist season.

Accommodation is in local homestays of the central part and in the north when available or guest house selected for its high eco-rating and excellent valid corporate social responsibility policy. Accommodation on the coast again is focused on the small family-owned hotels and facilities, where incentives to help locals are best achieved. Accommodation providers are given support and advice from our staff on all aspects of providing excellent facilities and services in line with the principals of sustainability. All service providers are encouraged and educated by ourselves to promote the “Reduce, Recycle, Re-use” principals of waste management.

People

By traveling with us you will ensure ongoing economic benefits, alternative employment and income opportunities for local people and businesses.

This itinerary includes travel through small communities and a visit to a local producer. Places we take you are filled with hospitality and are run by locals, you will find peace at guesthouse in Berat, Llogora, and enjoy sounds of the local folk in Gjirokastra. We are especially proud on giving the new life to beautiful villages around Skadar Lake area, and we are proud to have ever growing list of small service providers providing honest and traditional hospitality. All of them work like us, sustainable, with small groups and treat every guest not like a client but like a family. It provides an excellent opportunity for unique interactions between the visitor and the local people. Visitors support the local people by both being a guest and through the purchase of local produce.

Visitors contribute to the education of local people and stakeholders by providing a cultural exchange between guests and hosts. It can foster understanding between people. This increases the chances for people to develop mutual sympathy, tolerance and understanding and to reduce prejudice and promote the sense of global brotherhood.

Tourism also helps to raise local awareness concerning the financial value of natural and cultural sites. It can stimulate a feeling of pride in local and national heritage and interest in its conservation.
