1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

The vacation was quite an extended tour of Argentina, Antarctica and Chile all of which were phenomenal. It is difficult to pick a single highlight, but the meticulous planning and support from Federica at the tour operator was the best we have experienced from any travel agent.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Use a local agent and guides. Again the tour operator's presence and support throughout made our experience very enjoyable especially when we had some challenges with injuries and lost luggage.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Given we travelled from North to South Argentina and then South to North in Chile, we had stops and stays in many hotels. In all cases we stayed in small privately owned hotels run by local people. We found many of them used very sustainable approaches for energy, water and very environmentally friendly. We also adopted a vegetarian diet throughout our trip.

The tour operator is also linked with various lical NGOs who promote the local culture and aid the local communities.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

In a word - Outstanding !

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

We have visited five places in Province Santa Cruz. Some of them are well-known, and others are mostly unknown. The cherry on the cake was the stay in Campamento Darwin despite the thrilling drive on the muddy road in the heavy rain. Fantastic nature, canyons, Ria Deseado, Penguin island, and all those animals. The genius loci of this place is unforgettable. We never thought that such a lonely place could be so attractive. The family that runs campamento are great people. We loved their hospitality, knowledge, and heartiness.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Hire a 4x4 car and visit places, where are fewer tourists. Then you could feel Patagonia's world with wide plains, deep canyons and a lot of wild animals.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Absolutely yes. Campamento Darwin and La Posta de los Toldos support local businesses, use renewable energy sources and support environmental protection.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Perfectly tailored vacations with the great support of the tour provider before and during the trip.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

This is a tailor-made, independent trip; groups are very small, normally comprised of 2 to 4 people, helping to minimise the negative environmental and social impact.
This is a journey through the Chilean and Argentinean Patagonia. Much of the trip is spent in pristine nature, including some pristine National parks. Our travelers are briefed by local guides as to how to minimise their impact on the environment. Advise includes staying on marked tracks, only picnicking on designated areas and disposing of all waste responsibly.
Travelers will experience the extraordinary beauty of this natural environment: millennial native rainforests, snow-capped volcanoes, waterfalls and lakes. Useful tips on how to travel responsibly, as well as information on local flora and fauna can also be found in the road book we provide to our travelers.
On this tour, we work with authentic lodging run by people aware of their environmental responsibilities. Most of the accommodation consists of traditional constructions, often built using local materials such as native woods.

People

We want local populations to benefit from the resources generated by tourism, by putting as much as possible back into the local communities. We support local employment and communities in our choice of accommodation, tours, locations, etc. We always take into consideration the feedback we receive from the local population to try to improve the quality of services in the best way possible.
During this trip, travelers will have a chance to familiarize with customs and traditions of local Mapuche both in Argentina and Chile. All travelers are provided with detailed guidelines as to how to travel responsibly. We provide our travelers with a road book with useful information on local culture and customs.
We donate 3% of the total price of this trip to support local educational projects. Each year, we support and develop educational programs focused on ancestral cultures and the environment, thanks to a solidarity development fund generated by our travelers.
