“Although this was a town with a main street and a railway station, and people with dogs and electric lights it was near enough to the end of the eart...
I am a grown man, and have travelled all over Africa. But the first time I saw a tiger in the wilds of India, I cried.
Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
With environmentally-friendly tourism at the forefront of all our itinerary planning, this is a trip that perfectly encapsulates the cohesion of sustainability, luxury and adventure in Argentina. From handpicked ethically-run accommodation, to a focus on spending longer in areas of natural beauty in need of physical and financial protection. We also aim for self-powered transport on the activities, such as hiking, biking, and kayaking, rather than replying on car or boat trips. We minimise domestic flights where possible, so that any flights on the itinerary only replace journeys that would have otherwise taken a minimum of 12 hours driving. This is designed to cause fewer emissions than a more traditional 'highlights' package trying to link all the famous sights of Argentina, and often Brazil or Chile as well, in one flight-heavy carbon-emitting package.
And finally, our guides are trained in maintaining that all important balance between tourism and protecting the local environment. In essence to leave no footprint, and to leave with nothing but memories.
People
Our itineraries are designed so you can spend more time in each area, spreading the financial benefits of tourism wider and deeper into communities less visited than on a classic 'bucket list' package. With almost two full weeks exclusively exploring the Lake District and southern Patagonia, we can go a little off the classic circuit to include more time in El Chalten and Ushuaia for example (and there is enough to see to stay longer!)All of this is done with our community-focussed, highly-trained, well paid guides helping you tread the right path, Our local partners are one of the most ethically-focussed boutique ground agents currently operating in Argentina, working towards a B-Corp certification, the primary reason we picked them from the dozens out there.
We also avoid international chain hotels or large cruise ships, prioritising independent local owner-run properties where possible. This keeps more money in the immediate area, and helps provides business and employment opportunities to local people, whilst providing us and our guests with a more genuine and enriching stay as part of our trips.
