Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
This is a tailor-made, independent trip; groups are very small, normally comprised of 2 to 4 people, helping to minimise the negative environmental and social impact. This is a journey through three beautiful Andean countries. Much of the trip is spent in pristine nature, including salt deserts, majestic mountains and impressive geothermal fields. Our travelers are briefed by local guides as to how to minimise their impact on the environment. Advise includes staying on marked tracks and recycling whenever possible. Some useful information on local flora and fauna and tips on how to travel responsibly, can also be found in the road book we provide to our travelers.
This trip will take travelers to the best wine regions of Argentina. We would be pleased to recommend “Bodegas” where the vineyards are farmed with an efficient use of the local ecosystem’s natural resources.
We work with small hotels run by people aware of their environmental responsibilities. Most of the accommodation consists of traditional constructions, often built using local materials like the high-altitude architecture of the Andean villages. A good example is the salt hotel in the Uyuni salt desert, a hotel made entirely from salt and built away from the salar itself for environmental reasons.
People
We support local employment and communities in our choice of accommodation, tours, restaurants, etc. We want local populations to benefit from the resources generated by tourism, by putting as much as possible back into the local communities. We always take into consideration the feedback we receive from the local population to try to improve the quality of services in the best way possible. This trip is no different from others we provide, in that it encourages real interaction between people while respecting the culture, history and customs of each individual community. This carefully planned itinerary includes several picturesque villages along the way. Travelers can gain insight into the local culture, including indigenous people like the Kolla of North-western Argentina and the Atacameños of North Chile.
We highly recommend our travelers to take some time to talk to the locals, know their stories and traditions and purchase locally made handcrafts. We provide our travelers with a road book with useful information on local culture and customs.
We donate 3% of the total price of this trip to co-fund micro-projects implemented by local schools, associations and ONGs. These are community projects based on education and conservation activities, especially addressed to young people.
