Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
CARBON REDUCTIONReduced Air Travel: This 7-day tour is strategically designed to cover Slovenia comprehensively, thereby eliminating the need for multiple internal flights. This significantly reduces the carbon emissions associated with air travel.
Local Public Transport: We make extensive use of Slovenia's efficient public bus system for city-to-city transfers and local tours. This group travel method reduces the CO2 emissions per person compared to individual car rentals.
Human-Powered Transport: Our itinerary includes two full days of hiking in the Triglav National Park and the Logar Valley, as well as walking tours in less explored eastern regions. These human-powered activities not only offer an intimate experience but also have zero carbon emissions.
Local and Seasonal Food: All of the food provided during the tour is sourced locally and is seasonal, reducing the carbon footprint associated with food transportation.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
National Park Contributions: Entry fees for Triglav National Park are included in the tour package. These fees directly contribute to conservation and biodiversity projects within the park.
Sustainable Accommodations: All accommodations are vetted for their waste management and recycling policies. For example, the guesthouses in Bled are part of a local initiative to reduce plastic waste.
Expert Nature Guides: Our guides are trained to educate tourists about the local flora and fauna, particularly in the Soca Valley and Triglav National Park, fostering a sense of responsibility towards the environment.
People
LOCAL ECONOMYSupport for Locally-Owned Businesses: 95% of the accommodations we use are locally owned, funneling money directly back into local communities.
Local Cuisine and Producers: We include at least one meal a day from local restaurants that source their produce from local farmers. This not only gives you a taste of authentic Slovenian cuisine but also supports local agriculture.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY, AND DIVERSITY
Local Employment: We employ local guides and drivers, 80% of whom are from the regions we visit. This provides job opportunities in less economically developed areas of Slovenia.
Workplace Diversity Strategy: Yes, we have a comprehensive workplace diversity strategy that ensures equal employment opportunities without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, or nationality.
LGBTQ+ Friendly: Absolutely, this trip is LGBTQ+ friendly. We strive to create an inclusive environment for all travelers.
Accessibility:This tour is not recommended for individuals with limited mobility, as it involves a walking vacation. While we provide accessible transportation and lodging options, the nature of the activities may pose challenges for those with mobility issues. Please consider this information before making your reservation.
