On our horse treks, the gauchos ensure that the horses you trek with are well treated, well fed and well looked after. We communicate a strict environmental policy to make sure that the eco-system of the mountains is not damaged or spoilt in any way. Both the gaucho guides & clients are briefed on appropriate/responsible behaviour whilst staying in wilderness areas. Our “Leave No Trace” ethic is applied to all trips in all regions, and as tour operators is something we are careful to promote.
All excursions and trekkings are privately guided or group escorted by specialized mountain guides with ecological and cultural knowledge. You are accompanied as by local gauchos they have been working with for years with horse riding excursions. All organization and logistics are local and locally owned. Their commitment is to guide you in a safe way, that you can enjoy fully the beauty of a landscape, the riding, walks and trekkings while nature is taken care of and that visitors are doing the same.

People

The individual & travels are designed and offered by international certified guides who live and work in Latin America. They have been guiding in the Andes for many years and in this way got into contact with these gaucho families. They are proud to offer this possibility to travel by horse - or on foot - through this part of NW Argentina as they know how unique & authentic this area and the lifestyle of the gauchos still is. By booking one of these travels you support several local gaucho families to continue with making a living in the remote mountains and to keep their traditions alive. This one of the most purest forms of tourism in the mountains, and the treks are organized on a very small scale and bring you to very interesting places which are rarely visited. The group size is as small as you want, and so it is even possible to trek with one or two persons only and your private gaucho guide and cook. It is still very rare to see foreign travelers in these areas, so you are invariably welcomed with warmth, shyness and curiosity by the local people in the mountains. These treks give a deeper insight in the gaucho culture and also give the gaucho families the opportunity to learn from their guests their values & customs, and to accommodate their guiding skills & services.

Their vision is to provide solidarity to the entire coffee community in the area, striving to improve the quality of the life of children and families of the coffee communities. Through their different programs the cooperative aspire to offer training technique in administration, management, accounting, among others and offer scholarships to students and subsidies to primary schools in rural coffee communities, as well as inspire to new forms of community economic organization.
