1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Temple complex at Kota-Hira and the town itself

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Check the cable car is running. It wasn't on the day we walked up the mountain and wanted to use it to get back down.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Apart from one place all local accommodation used but all felt very genuine and 2 places were clearly very small businesses. Lots of taxis, buses and trains used so did reduce environmental impact but would have been better if we could have walked to and from each overnight accommodation.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

We enjoyed it but there was too much involved in getting to the start of each day's walk and then from the end of the walk to our next accommodation e.g buses, trains. Would have been nicer to just walk. The staff very helpful prior to walk and communications - email and one telephone call - all worked well.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

The ropeway/cable car ride on day three! Truely stupendous.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Good boots, walking poles, be aware snakes exist - but we only encountered, they left pretty quick, there was no laundry facility at Kotohira - but no biggy, our day two was listed as strenuous- read that as very strenuous. Greeting other walkers in Japanese always got a smile and a reply - even a chat. Wear your yukata with pride and confidence. End every day with a hot bath or onsen!

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Definitely benefited locals and I now have a far better understanding of Japanese environmental issues.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

We really enjoyed it. If you want to get beyond the glitz and ‘hustle and bustle’ of cities, this is a trip for you. You will see and experience rural and provincial Japan close up and personal, and hopefully, like us, come away having loved it.
