Reviews for Falkland Islands tour, birds and wildlife

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
It's hard to say what was 'most' memorable ... every step of the way there was a penguin experience, a songbird, bird of prey, elephant seal encounter that blew me away. But also, and just as important at the end of the trip, was the daily encounters with the Kelpers (Falkland Islanders). The weather was challenging, but that too, was a part of the journey. I've traveled extensively, and for wildlife, but this trip ... it stands out front of the long list of destinations and activities in the wild.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Carefully choose your clothing - not too much, not too little. Be prepared for all weather and go for it. Be ready for changes and don't get bogged down by 'your' schedule, just let it ride.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
I can't say that I personally made a difference to the local people other than not having met a single stranger there, but they certainly impacted my life. They have a lot to teach us who live north of the equator about 'community' and low impact on the environment. I certainly left with a lot of locals I now call, friends.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Above and beyond. I can't wait to go back and trust me, it's not easy to get to … no matter where you live. Just give yourself a buffer for potential flight delays and cancellations before arriving in Puntas Arenas. And don't sweat it.Sherry Koina review 21 Feb 2019
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
This whole vacation was brilliant. We enjoyed every minute of it. The wildlife is amazing.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Relax and enjoy. Be prepared that FIGAS transports you according to the schedules they daily prepare. Sometimes you will get to move on in the morning and other times you will have to wait till the afternoon.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Our vacation definitely benefited local people. All of the lodges and the airline are locally run. I loved that the lodges only cater for up to a dozen people as this reduces impact and makes the visit a unique experience. Many things are being done to enhance wildlife habitat.4.
