1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Seeing a white-tailed eagle at fairly close range.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

The route is pretty straightforward, but if you're unsure of navigation it's worth downloading the map of the area in Google Maps (or equivalent) so that it's available offline, as the mobile coverage is excellent, but it's not 100%. Request a sea view on Uto. There's no food after the start point on the first day of cycling, so take food. Pack layers, including wet clothes, as the weather is very variable.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Local people - local shops, and restaurants benefited. As a cycling vacation, it had limited environmental impact. Hard to see that it supported conservation.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

A great vacation at a fair price. Carmen couldn't have done more to help, and the arrangements were exemplary from start to finish. Highly recommended.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

The islands we visited are idyllic. We loved the tranquility of the routes planned by Carmen and being able to take it at our own desired pace. We cycled on quiet roads, paths and tracks through beautiful, varied woodland and green fields, over some gentle hills. We swam in a beautiful chilly lake in Tyresta National Park and in the icy Baltic Sea off the island of Ålö. The fish shack - Båtshaket - on Alö was pure delight. Our accommodation both in Stockholm and on the islands was comfortable, and the breakfasts were delicious. Cycling in Stockholm’s Djurgården was a treat. It was ALL memorable. We had a great time and met some lovely like-minded people.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Travel light but take clothes for all weathers including good rain gear and a warm jumper. We did the trip in mid summer and were lucky to have just one day’s rain. We were glad of the padding of cycling shorts and gel seat covers as there are lots of bumps on the rugged routes!

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Cycling and using small ferries felt like a great, green option for getting around. We enjoyed staying in a little cabin on Utö and using the local grocery and bakery. The cardamom bulle (buns) and the joy of ‘fika’ benefited locals - and us! Yum. The accommodation was all in local hotels and not big international chains. This active vacation is designed to be calm and slow enough to have time to support locals as well as to enjoy the surroundings with minimal environmental impact.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

It was wonderful!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Staying on the lovely island of UTO and exploring it including a quiet sandy beach.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Be aware that in Sweden a double room almost always means two single beds pushed together and two separate duvets

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Tourism benefits the area certainly in terms of visitor numbers and income-particularly outwith Stockholm. As we travelled by bike at times then I suppose that had a reduced environmental impact compared to a powered vehicle.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

We enjoyed our first trip to Sweden. Visiting a part of the archipelago and traveling by ferry from there into the very heart of Stockholm were highlights for me.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Kayaking around the island of Utö on our free day.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Bring clothing and preparation for all kinds of weather!

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Benefited the people on the individual islands, such as Utö, Orna Kyrka etc. where cafes and shops were reliant on tourism. We reduced environmental impacts through cycling and there was no unnecessary public transport.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

We would highly recommend the trip; our guide was friendly, the other people on our trip were fantastic, the scenery was great and the cycling was a refreshing getaway.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

So many wonderful moments: Cycling through the beautiful Swedish countryside, fresh air, no cars; seeing red squirrels; exploring the delights of Stockholm; discovering a wishing tree on the island of Ornö; the delicious food; excellent breakfasts; the variety of accomodation; staying out in the countryside in a farmhouse by a lake and being offered impromptu use of the sauna as the evening becomes fresher, then watching a lone cloud in the distance beyond the lake as it glows intermittently from lightening striking within.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Do a little training beforehand. Wear cycling shorts and/ or take a gel seat!

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

We supported some small and local businesses. For example, staying in a remote B & B. Our luggage was transported on for us, so it was just one vehicle making a trip and our exploration of the area was on environmentally friendly bicycles. Many Swedish hotels are environmentally aware as they offer minimal bath and shower products and many do not provide bottled water as the tap water is excellent, thus minimising their impact on the environment.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Life enhancing. The operator provided comprehensive information and organised everything beautifully. This meant we were free to enjoy the cycling and discover the Swedish culture and sights. When I returned home I was still glowing from all the memories and sensations from the vacation experiences.
