Head out on a Melanesia cruise and you’ll soon find yourself lolling back on your Vanuatu vacations as you follow in the wake of Captain Cook en-route to the Banks Islands and the volcanic wonders of Gaua, Vanua Lava and the still active Mt Séré’ama. Espiritu Santo, the largest island in the Vanuatu archipelago, is always best accompanied by a copy of Michener's ‘Tales of the South Pacific’ although a snorkel mask and binoculars are equally as handy.
